| Abstract | This article outlines how smart, mobile information systems can bring cost-effective, low-carbon solutions to the transportation sector. After outlining plug-in vehicle technologies and environmental impacts, we describe several specific ways in which mobile information can accelerate the success of plug-in vehicles. Finally, we show how mobile information systems and plug-in vehicles fit into a wider agenda for sustainable and smart transportation. |
