Seed funds and laboratory space for the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory have been provided by the Energy and Resources Group, the Department of Nuclear Engineering, and the University of California. These resources have been used to renovate the laboratory space and provide and purchase basic laboratory infrastructure and equipment.
The Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory is a unique facility dedicated to use-inspired fundamental research, the application of diverse methods to promoting sustainable social, environmental, and economic progress. The RAEL exists as a means to build bridges of understanding and true collaboration between academics and practitioners, the 'North' and the 'South' and to demonstrate that new paths in development are possible.
The RAEL does not fit neatly into the standard categories understood by academic or practitioner groups, and is thus particularly in need of support by individuals and groups willing to look beyond the status quo. We need and actively seek your support for this facility. In particular, we hope to develop an endowment for the laboratory. Please contact us should you be interested to assist the group.
Contributions are tax-deductible and can be written to the University of California and sent to Professor Daniel M. Kammen in the Energy and Resources Group. Please contact D. M. Kammen for additional information.
