Yale University — Energy System Analysis Speaker Series

Burke Auditorium Kroon Hall, Yale University, New Haven, CT, United States

To make the needed pathways for decarbonization both intellectually sound and operational, we have developed analytic tools to explore the cost, reliability, and technology integration for a diverse suite of regional energy systems (western North America, China, Chile, Nicaragua, the East African Power Pool and the Balkans). We use these models - SWITCH (rael.berkeley.edu) - to explore the costs and benefits of meeting decarbonization targets. We find that for both on-grid and off-grid energy needs, robust pathways can be developed to meet energy and environmental goals.
