Alumni Joe Kantenbacher

Joe’s schol­ar­ship in cen­tered on issues of envi­ron­men­tal behav­ior and sus­tain­able con­sump­tion. With his research, he explores the con­nec­tions between ener­gy and goods con­sump­tion and hap­pi­ness, inter­ro­gat­ing the the­o­ry that reduced con­sump­tion can sup­port improve­ments in qual­i­ty of life. He is par­tic­u­lar­ly inter­est­ed in the poten­tial for dis­cus­sions about time use to sup­port, enhance, and accel­er­ate move­ment toward a more sus­tain­able and sat­is­fy­ing econ­o­my. Joe is cur­rent­ly a PhD Can­di­date in the Ener­gy and Resources Group at UC Berke­ley, and, before begin­ning grad­u­ate stud­ies, was an assis­tant gen­tle­man-farmer in British Columbia.
