Alumni Joe Kantenbacher

Joe’s schol­ar­ship in cen­tered on issues of envi­ron­men­tal behav­ior and sus­tain­able con­sump­tion. With his research, he explores the con­nec­tions between energy and goods con­sump­tion and hap­pi­ness, inter­ro­gat­ing the the­ory that reduced con­sump­tion can sup­port improve­ments in qual­ity of life. He is par­tic­u­larly inter­ested in the poten­tial for dis­cus­sions about time use to sup­port, enhance, and accel­er­ate move­ment toward a more sus­tain­able and sat­is­fy­ing econ­omy. Joe is cur­rently a PhD Can­di­date in the Energy and Resources Group at UC Berke­ley, and, before begin­ning grad­u­ate stud­ies, was an assis­tant gentleman-​​farmer in British Columbia.
