ER 298N "Sustainability in Action: Cal Climate Action Course"
CCN: 27484
As part of the Cal Climate Action Partnership (CalCAP) program, UC Berkeley has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2014. Reaching this goal will require creative solutions across a wide range of disciplines. This interdisciplinary graduate course will feature lectures from faculty members in several departments addressing a wide range of sustainability topics, including finance, energy, buildings, transportation, water, waste, and life-cycle analysis. Students will use the knowledge they acquire to complete a campus sustainability project that will help the university meet its goal.
The faculty sponsors for this class are Dan Kammen (ERG) and Joan Walker (CEE). Grades will be based on class participation, reading responses, and two presentations. Lectures will be on Tuesdays from 4-7PM.
